3.6 Pointers for Digital-Age Teachers

Data Security and Privacy while Using the Internet

Data security and privacy are important considerations in today’s world, and especially now with teaching moving online. It is important for you to know how to be safe on the internet, and for you to be able to tell your students how they can browse the internet safely as well.

Here are a few strategies you can keep in mind:

Use strong passwords for tools that require you to create accounts. Try to use different passwords for different accounts, rather than the same one
Install an AdBlock plugin on Chrome, which can prevent unwanted or inappropriate advertisements from coming onto your screen
Tackle cyber bullying by blocking or reporting the account that is causing trouble, spreading positivity towards the victim where possible, etc.
